Betty Valin

Funeral services for Betty Nan Valin will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the St. Landry Catholic Church followed by interment in the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.

Mrs. Valin, native of Washington and resident of Opelousas, died at 11:40 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Opelousas General Health System.

Betty was a waitress at The Downtowner, Soileaus Dinner Club, and The Palace Caf in Opelousas.

She is survived by her sisters; Gayle Soileau and her husband Charles of Baton Rouge and Velma S. Thibodeaux of Opelousas; her brother Burke J. Soileau and his wife Barbara of Sebec, Maine. She is also survived by 6 nephews and nieces, JoAnn Cortez of Opelousas, Peggy Bradford of Coppell, TX, Tammy Thibodeaux of Opelousas, Gary Thibodeaux of Opelousas, Barney Thibodeaux of Lewisville, TX and Randy Soileau of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine; 7 great nephews and nieces and 1 Great-great niece.

She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Valin and her parents; Claude and Anna Deshotel Soileau.

Pallbearers for the funeral service will be Charles Soileau, Burke Soileau, Glenn Cortez, Chad Cortez, David Cortez and Barney Thibodeaux.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Louis Nix, Senior Village Nursing Home, Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, and the nursing staff at Opelousas General Health System for the special care provided to Betty during her time of need.

Visitation will begin on Monday, June 23, 2008 from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. and will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
