A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Betty Roberie Meche at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. The Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will be the celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park cemetery.
Betty Roberie Meche, age 88, who was a native of Grand Prairie, LA, resident of Opelousas, LA for over 50 years and a current resident of Sunset, LA, died on Tuesday, January 19, 2016.
Mrs. Meche was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She worked as a seamstress for many years at Abdallas clothing store in Opelousas, LA. At home she created beautiful clothing, blankets, and doilies through her sewing and crocheting skills. When Betty wasn't sewing or cooking, she loved playing the Sizzlers slot machines. She will greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her son, Kevin Barry Meche of Sunset, LA; daughter, Shirley Meche Carroll and husbnd Ike of Bossier City, LA; brother, Roy Roberie of Opelousas, LA; sister, Dolora Roberie Matte and husband Pike of Lawtell, LA; four grandchildren, Raven Meche, Brittany Meche, Keith Smith, and Trina Goulas and 9 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ferdie Joseph Meche; parents, Le'cy and Alice Vidrine Roberie; her son, Ronald Meche; brother, J.L. Roberie and a sister, Verna Roberie Prudhomme.
The family request visiting at the LaFond- Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 4:00- 9:00 p.m. A Rosary service will conducted by Reverend Austin Leger at 7:00 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Friday.
