A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Betty R. Jennings, the former Betty Joy Robin, on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park cemetery. The Reverend James Brady will Celebrate the Mass.
Mrs. Jennings, age 83, who was a native of Arnaudville, LA and a resident of Opelousas, LA, died on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Opelousas General Health System.
Betty was a homemaker who loved to keep up her home. She enjoyed shopping and talking on the telephone to her dear friends and family. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas. That meant that she could shop for presents to give to all of her family. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Frank Jennings of Opelousas, LA sons, Terry Jennings and wife Rhonda of Carencro, LA, Donny Jennings and wife Sue of Opelousas, LA daughters, Sandra Landry and husband Elton of Opelousas, LA, Paula Trahan and husband Tom of Rayne, LA, and Marla Thibodeaux of Duson, LA sisters, Erilda Davis and husband Patrick of Leonville, LA and Geraldine Landaiche of New Orleans, LA grandchildren, Blaine Jennings and wife Melanie, Christine Berzas, Aimee Ridgeway and husband Jay, Joey Landry and wife Lauren, Brett Trahan, John Jennings and wife Carissa, Toby Jennings and wife Kayla, Stephanie Evans and husband Toby, Rebekah Deleon and husband Arthur, Josh Thibodeaux, Jaime Thibodeaux, Christi Nicole Jennings, Dwayne Jasseur and wife Brandi, and Misty Fontenot and husband Kory 24 great grandchildren, 1 greatgreat grandchild and her Yorkie, Mia.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Gil Broussard and Antoine Bruce Broussard infant son, John Anthony Jennings and her dogs, Shadow and Skippy.
Pallbearers will be Joey Landry, Blaine Jennings, Brett Trahan, Josh Thibodeaux, Jaime Thibodeaux, Toby Jennings, John Jennings, and Dwayne Vasseur.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Sue and Amanda, Dr. Hunt DeBlanc and staff, all of Opelousas General Health System staff and Heritage Manor Nursing Homes staff.
The family requests visiting in the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 3:00 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
