Betty Cormier

Lewisburg A Mass of Christian Burial for Betty Babineaux Cormier, age 67, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, in the St. John Catholic Church Mission in Lewisburg, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. The Very Reverend Monsignor Jeff DeBlanc will celebrate the Mass.

Mrs. Cormier, a native and resident of Lewisburg, died on Monday, December 12, 2011 at the Acadia St. Landry Hospital in Church Point.

She loved spending time with her sisters and family. She enjoyed watching the New Orleans Saints play football. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by two sons, Chris Cormier and wife Melissa of Sunset, LA and Kevin Cormier of Spring, TX her daughter, Cindy Bellard and husband, Benjie, of Lewisburg sisters, Mary Champagne and husband, Watson Champagne of Lewisburg, Jane Ryder and husband Sonny Ryder of Lawtell, Elaine Bellow and husband Chuck Bellow of Lewisburg five grandchildren, Britany Brownlee, Savannah Cormier, Hailey Bellard, Heidi Bellard and Harley Bellard. She is also survived by three stepgrandchildren, Colby Nelams, Kyle Nelams and Blaze Nelams.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Franklin Frank Cormier her parents, Ivy and Lula Mae Prejean Babineaux and two brothers, Herbert Babineaux and Larry Babineaux.

Pallbearers will be Chris Cormier, Kevin Cormier, Benjie Bellard, Mark Trahan, Gene Grant and Keith Cravenes.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. A Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
