Bernice Janes

Opelousas - Funeral services for Bernice "Pete" Guidry Janes, age 92, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 2, 2017, in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. Visitation will begin at 8:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Vince Tullos from the Opelousas Bible Church will conduct the service.

Mrs. Janes, a resident of Opelousas, LA passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the St. Landry Extended Care in Opelousas.

Bernice loved cooking and enjoyed reading. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and friends and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, James "Jim" V. Janes, III (Marian); Karl Janes (special friend, Nancy Devillier); Kenneth "Kenny" Janes (fiance' Tammy Hart); her daughter, Martha Genovese and husband, Justice James "Jimmy" T. Genovese and her brother, Rodney "Bonnie" E. Guidry. She is also survived by four grandchildren, James "Jamie" Janes, IV (Shawn); Christopher "Chris" Richard Janes (Tisa); Elizabeth Wyble (Gantt); Jennifer Reeder (Justin); four step-grandchildren, Celeste, Stephanie, Adrienne and Sarah; thirteen great-grandchildren, Taylor, Shelby, Austin, Parker, Faith, Carmen, Alexis, Christian, Gavin, Lili, Emma, Jack, Josie and three step-great-grandchildren, Caleb, Ella and Isabella.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James V. Janes, Jr.; her parents, Newton and Edna Guidry and her granddaughter, Sarah A. Janes.

Pallbearers will be James Janes, III, Karl Janes, Kenny Janes, James Janes, IV, Chris Janes and Gantt Wyble.
