Opelousas – A Memorial Gathering will be held for Bernice Verrette Ducharme at from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2022, in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.  An inurnment will follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Mausoleum in Port Barre, La.

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Bernice Verrette Ducharme, age 74, on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas.

Bernice enjoyed painting figurines to give as gifts to her friends and tending to her flowers.  In her early years, she worked as a cashier and clerk and later settled in working for Pepsico as a sales representative until she retired.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Cheyenne Guillory and wife, Samantha, Colin Taylor and wife, Tomoko; her daughter, Paula Artigue; her siblings, Raymond Verrette, Joseph Verrette and Amy Verrette and her stepchildren, Raymond Ducharme, Richard Ducharme, Lenore Evans and husband, Roger and Elizabeth Escurex and husband, Renee.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley Grand, Parker Grand, Elizabeth Guillory, Madelynn Guillory, Teresa Taylor, Liam Taylor, Kent Taylor and Jason Taylor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacques and Gladys Verrette; her first husband, James Guillory; her second husband, Charles Taylor; her third husband, August Ducharme; her granddaughter, Monica Taylor; her son-in-law, Dean Artigue and her siblings, Lester, Weston and Gene Verrette.
