Berchman Richard

Opelousas It is with much sorrow that the family of Berchman C. Laddie Richard announces the death of their beloved father.

Funeral services for Laddie Richard, age 89, will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Monsignor Louis Melancon will conduct the services.

Mr. Richard, who was a native and former resident of Opelousas and was a current resident of Baton Rouge, died at 4:40 a.m. at the Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary, LA.

Laddie worked as a carpenter by trade. He was a past member of Woodmen of the World, Knights of Columbus and the Carpenters Local 1098.

Survivors include sons, Glenn Richard of Baton Rouge, LA, Jerry Richard and wife Patricia of Zachary, LA, and Randy Pourciau and wife Pam of Walker, LA daughters, Debbie Harrell and husband Danny of Clinton, LA, Gloria Williams and husband Ted of Clinton, LA, and Faye Bennett and husband Larry of Zachary, LA a brother, H.L. Richard of Opelousas sister, Norma Lee Dugal of Opelousas numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and greatgreat grandchildren and his special friends, Louis and Valla Mae Stephens.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Mae Smith Richard parents, Leonard and Allie Johnson Richard son, Ronald Wayne Richard sister, Georgia Ruth Hebert and four grandchildren.

Mr. Richards children will act as his pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Louis Stephens, Bobby Amedee and Simon Young.

The family requests visiting on Friday, December 10, 2010 from 9:00 11:30 a.m. in the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home.
