Belinda Wallace

The family of Belinda Marie Wallace, of Krotz Springs, LA, is saddened to announce her passing on January 31, 2025, at the age of 65, after a brief and sudden illness.

Belinda was an expert in numerous fields. Her professional journey began in Krotz Springs, where she worked for Hill Petroleum before relocating to Alaska to work in the oilfields. She later earned her Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Alaska Anchorage.

In addition to her work in the oil fields, Belinda held dual degrees in Natural Sciences and Chemistry, as well as a real estate license in both Alaska and Louisiana. Her talents spanned a wide range of disciplines, including carpentry, woodworking, and quilting. In recent years, Belinda operated a successful quilting business in Louisiana.

Her diverse skill set also extended to crafting, sewing, knitting, stained glass, welding, botany, construction, gardening, saltwater aquariums, mechanics, and more—an impressive list of talents that few could match.

Belinda was a wealth of knowledge, creativity, and mentorship, and she will be deeply missed by her friends and family. A passionate world traveler, she loved the arts and museums, with a special interest in French tapestries, which influenced her legendary quilting. She spoke French and had a particular fondness for French cherry tart. Her Café Du Monde lattes were the stuff of legend.

Belinda was known for her extensive hat collection. She was also a certified diver who explored the waters of the Philippines and a talented photographer, complete with her own darkroom.

Belinda was a valued member of several associations, including the Krotz Springs Quilting Guild, the Lafayette Quilting Guild, and various Realtor Associations, and she cherished the relationships she built within these communities.

Belinda is survived by her poodle, Angel’; her sisters, Jenny Dawson (Kent) and Marsha Wallace; her niece, Anna Logsdon; nephews, Jake Logsdon, Mitch Wallace (Maria), and Alex Carey (Tiffany); and great-niece and nephews, Selene, Jack, and Elliott. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wallace and Clara Eusay Wallace; and her grandparents, Lucille Lantz, John Denver Wallace, Percy Eusay, and Shirley Eusay.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 3, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Krotz Springs, Louisiana. A rosary service will take place at 7:00 p.m. that evening led by Father Henry Antony. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home.

The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Krotz Springs, Louisiana, with Father Henry Antony celebrating the Mass. A cemetery blessing will follow the Mass, with a reception afterward at the Gary Soileau Community Center.
