Beatrice Grimmett

Lawtell - A Mass of Christian Burial for Beatrice "Sue" Darbonne Grimmett will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016, in the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell. Reverend Father Ted Broussard will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will be held at a later date.
Sue Grimmett, age 81, was a native of Lawtell and a resident of Grand Coteau, LA. She passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at her residence. As a homemaker she loved raising her children, spending time with her family, reading, and gardening. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her sons, Garnet "Nap" (Faye) Grimmett of Lafayette; Gary (Mary) Grimmett of Lawtell; and Guy Grimmett and companion, Sara Teague of Broussard; her daughters, Debbie Grimmett of Magnolia Springs, AL; Karen (James) Mayard of Carencro; Jamie Fontenot of Lawtell; Marsha (Randy) Cormier of Hiram, OH; Patrice Pipes of Opelousas; and Gina (Bryan) Labbe of Opelousas; sister, Lucretia "Lou" Thibodeaux of New Roads; her former spouse, James L. Grimmett of Lafayette; 29 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her birth parents, Beatrice Mary Ledoux Darbonne and Ezeb Darbonne, Sr.; her adopted parents, Zeno Joubert, Sr. and Effie Joubert; brothers, Harrison Darbonne, Joseph Vivian Darbonne, Ezeb Darbonne, Jr., Anthony Darbonne, Jack Darbonne, and Zeno Joubert, Jr., sisters, Willie Mae Pelafigue, Norma Lee Lagrange; twins, Leona Darbonne and Matilde Darbonne, Donna Darbonne, and Betty Darbonne; and son-in-law, Randy Fontenot.

A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell.
