Barbara D'Avy

Opelousas Services for Mrs. Barbara Richard DAvy age 76, will be held on Friday, November 13, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, La.

Mrs. DAvy, who was a resident of Sunset, La., died at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas on Thursday, November 5, 2009.

Mrs. DAvy was a teacher for 30 years at Sunset High School and Opelousas Junior High School. She also worked at the A.S.C. office. She taught business and history, but mostly tried to teach her students from her life experiences.

She is survived by her son, Richard DAvy and wife, Elisa, of Del Rio, Texas; her daughter, Jennifer E. DAvy of Sunset, La.; her sister, Sadie Wahler and husband, Joseph, of Seattle, Washington and two grandchildren, Erin C. DAvy and Richard E. DAvy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Willie Richard and Mary Pearl Rourke Richard and her son, Perry Allen DAvy.

Pallbearers will be Michael DAvy, Faltery Jolivette, Carlos Smith, Mitch Bergeron, Wade Leon and Eugene Woods.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will re-open at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 13, 2009 until service time. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2009.
