Opelousas - A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019, for Australia Richard Comeaux in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home. Deacon Bill Pollingue will officiate the service. Rite of Committal will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Shane Briley, Cole Briley, Douglas Pitre, John Thibodeaux, Jude Delahoussaye and Andre Thibodeaux.

Mrs. Comeaux, age 85, a resident of Opelousas, LA, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at her home.

Australia was an all-around wonderful, giving and thoughtful person. She loved doing for others. She enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life. She sewed and quilted many beautiful items. In her quilting designs she always included her signature cat. Australia loved woodworking and showed her skills by building a gun cabinet along with many other projects. She loved entertaining, cooking, baking and shopping for items for her kitchen. Australia will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by husband of 36 years, John E. Comeaux; her daughters, Cheryl Dupre, Trudy Fusilier and husband, Timothy; Melanie Dupre; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Dupre and her son-in-law, Fred Perry. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alida and Hample Savoy Richard; her first husband, Douglas Dupre; her son, Randall Dupre; her daughter, Janice Perry; her grandson, Gavin Dupre and her brothers and sister.
