Aubrey Soileau

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Aubrey Joseph Soileau, age 79, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, LA. Reverend Jared Suire will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Eucharistic ministers will be Evelina Soileau, Gwen DeJean and Catherine Courville. Altar servers will be Michael Darbonne and Toby Villemarette. Readers will be Agnes LeBlanc and Jonalyn Soileau. The offerings will be brought up by Katlyn Stelly, Katie Smith and Diane Soileau Aucoin. Musical selections will be provided by the Washington Choir, Hanna Stewart, Sadie Smith and Kylie Everett.

Mr. Soileau, a resident of Garland, LA, died on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.

Aubrey worked and retired from Southern Pacific Railroad and was the owner of Soileau's Grocery Store in Beggs. He loved farming his land and tending to his numerous fruit trees and garden. He was also an avid hunter, loved boxing and hitting Royal Flushes at the casino. Paw-Paw cherished the time that he spent with his grandchildren and family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Norma Guillory Soileau of Garland, LA; his daughter, Diane Soileau Aucoin and husband, James Burke Aucoin, of Garland, LA; his brothers, Charles Soileau and wife, Evelina Buller Soileau; Bobby Soileau and wife, Jonalyn Soileau and his sister-in-law, Rose Becker Soileau. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Denay Aucoin Everett and fiance', Andrew LeBlanc; Katie Aucoin Smith and husband, Tucker and five great-grandchildren, Katlyn Paige Stelly, Kylie Marie Everett, Sadie Claire Smith, Aiden Wesley LeBlanc and Matthew James Smith and numerous nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Levy and Ophelia Morain Soileau; his brother, Herman Soileau and his sister, Evelina Soileau Guilbeau.

Visitation will be held at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed by Reverend Jared Suire at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday until time of services.

Pallbearers will be Burke Aucoin, Tony Soileau, Brent Soileau, Tommy Soileau, Rusty Guilbeau and Andrew LeBlanc. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Soileau, Charles Soileau, and Tony Pantaleo.
