- Funeral services for Mr. Attaway Dupre, age 79, will be held Sunday, May 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas followed by interment in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Mausoleum in Ville Platte.
Monsignor Louis Melancon will conduct the funeral servicesa.
Attaway Dupre, a resident of Washington, LA died on May 23, 2008 at his residence.
Mr. Dupre was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served on the Washington Town Council from July 20, 1981 to December 19, 1994. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Dupre is survived by his wife, Joyce S. Dupre; son, Michael Dupre and his wife, Jennifer, of Washington, LA; his daughters, Gwendolyn and her husband, Dana, Sorensen of Houston, Texas; Donna Mistric and her husband, Tommy, of Opelousas, LA; Dawn Peck and her husband, Blaine, of Opelousas, LA. He is also survived by his brother, Dominick Dupre of Ville Platte; 7 grandchildren, Devan Dunbar, Keisha Mistric, Brandon Dupre, Jeremy Sorensen, Meagan Mistric, Holden Peck, Victoria Peck; and 2 great-grandchildren, Ethan Hebert and Avery Artigue.
Mr. Dupre was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysse and Rena Vidrine Dupre; two brothers, Kermit Dupre; Alphan Dupre and his sister, Elise Dupre.
Pallbearers will be Michael Dupre, Brandon Dupre, Jeremy Sorenson, Holden Peck, Tommy Mistric and Blaine Peck.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on Saturday, May 24, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will re-open on Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary service will be held on Saturday evening.
