A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Arista Slim Hollier, age 81, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday August 20, 2012 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, La. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park with Reverend Paul Bienvenu as the celebrant.
Mr. Hollier, a lifelong resident of Opelousas, La. was born on September 21, 1930 and died on Friday, August 17, 2012, at 2:35 p.m. at his residence. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was the Founder of Hollier Electrical Service.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his sons, Greg Hollier of Sunset, Glenn Hollier and wife Cindy of Opelousas, daughter, Donna Smith and husband Mike of Longview, Tx., grandchildren, Cain Hollier of Carencro, LCpl. Dylan C. Hollier United States Marine Corp of Carencro, Jessica Graham and husband Michael of Opelousas, Jennifer Hall and husband Dylan of White Oak, Tx., Meg Jackson and husband Austin of Gladewater, Tx., great grandchildren, Cullen Graham of Opelousas, Alli Batson and Molly Hall of White Oak, Tx., Bryanna Jackson of Gladewater, Tx., his companion of 16 years, Verlie Lafleur of Opelousas, extended family, Connie Quebedeaux and family of Leonville and the Jeanette Chelette family of Opelousas, sisters, Alice Guidroz and husband Murphy of Opelousas, Diana Auster of Lafayette, Inez Auster of Lafayette, Matt Guidry of Lafayette, a brother, A.J. Hollier of Opelousas and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred LeBlanc Hollier, parents, Aristille and Celeste Hollier and his sisters, Josephine Tauzin, Agnes Stelly and Ester Graham.
Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning on Sunday August 19, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Monday at 8:00 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Pallbearers will be Cain Hollier, Dylan Hollier, Michael Graham, Jr., Mike LeBlanc, Dale Bertrand and Joe Quebedeaux.
