Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial for Alyssa Chasse Guillory, age 11, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2012, in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, La., followed by interment in the St. Peters Catholic Church Cemetery in Grand Prairie, La. The Reverend James Brady will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial.
Alyssa, a resident of Ville Platte, La., died on Tuesday, July 10, 2012.
Alyssa completed the 6th grade as an honor student at Opelousas Catholic School, where she was a member of the Jr. Beta Club, the Opelousas Catholic Soccer team, and was a barrel racer for the Opelousas Catholic 4H Club. She received a Citizenship Award in the second grade for her academic excellence and kindness to others. Alyssas love for animals rang true as she was a lifetime member of the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association L.Q.H.B.A, the American Quarter Horse Association, the Little Britches Rodeo Association and the Acadiana Youth Rodeo Association. She loved caring for her dogs and horses. She had set a goal, even at such a young age, of becoming a veterinarian. Alyssa will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her mother, Stephanie Ann Soileau, of Ville Platte, La. her father, David Wayne Guillory, of Ville Platte, La. her maternal grandparents, John L. and Bernadine Soileau, of Opelousas, La. her paternal grandparents, J.R. and Ola Guillory, of Ville Platte, La. She is also survived by her brothers, Dino Indica of Baton Rouge, La. Damian Guillory of Lafayette, La. her sisters, Josie Guillory of Grand Prairie, La. Kristen Holland and husband, Gabe, of Youngsville, La. and her niece, Alana Holland.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Chase Guillory her uncle, Joseph Soileau her cousin, Jody Evans Guillory and her aunt, Carla Hawthorne.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Soileau, Darrel Soileau, Damien Guillory, Kevin Guillory, Tanner Smith, Michael Guillory and honorary pallbearer, Glenn Soileau.
Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning on Thursday, July 12, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Friday until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
