Nee Aline Soileau on August 29, 1911 in Ville Platte, Mrs. Sudduth later became a longtime resident of St. Landry Parish when she married in 1936. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Butch Sudduth; her second son, Willard Will Sudduth of Houston; her parents, Rene and Eugenie Fontenot Soileau; her brothers, Leroy and Yves Duffy Soileau; and her sisters, Amy Richard, Emma Bob Ardoin, and Lucille Alexander; and a grand nephew, Smokey Deville all of Ville Platte; a niece, Jeanne Basco of Shreveport, and nephew, Mike Sudduth of Houston, Atkins Brown of Maryland and two sisters-in-law and friends, Edith Sudduth Brown of Opelousas and Gera Earhardt Sudduth of Washington.

Mrs. Sudduth was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Altar Society and the Home Demonstration Club. In her earlier years, she enjoyed sewing and her cooking specialties were pork roast, Opelousa round steak, and banana cake. She enjoyed gardening, admiring her huge azaleas in the springtime and liked raking leaves in the fall. In later years, she learned to crochet and made several afghans that are now wonderful remembrances of her love for her family. She was a devoted wife and loving mother who guided her family with an unquestioning faith. She will be remembered for her good common sense, genuine optimism and zest for life.

Survivors include her son, Richard Dickie Sudduth; his daughter, Kelly Lalonde and Kellys children Courtney and Cody of Opelousas and her great, great granddaughter, Chelsea Ledoux and her father Dustin. She is also survived by her daughter, Eugenie Genie Duhon and husband Gervis of Lafayette; their children Brad Duhon of Scott and Shelly Trahan and her husband Darryl of Lafayette and their children Phillip Lanclos, Tori and Adrienne Trahan, her niece and Godchild Celia Ardoin of Ville Platte as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express special thanks to our friend Ms. Irma Chavis, her caregiver who spent many hours helping Mrs. Sudduth to continue to enjoy her daily routine at home. The concern and excellent care provided by Dr. Richard Tate are greatly appreciated. Thanks also, to those special nurses, nursing assistants, and staff members at Senior Village Nursing Home who provided loving care for Mrs. Sudduth and support for her family.
