Alice I. Gremillion, age 92, passed away March 21, 2012, in Prescott, Arizona. Born November 12, 1919 in Bristol, Connecticut, she married Donald Gremillion of Plaucheville and settled in Opelousas, where she raised a family of four children. She will be remembered for her caring and compassion for others. She enjoyed world traveling and watching Jeopardy on television. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College, Phi Beta Kappa, and earned a Masters degree from Louisiana State University. She was known for her wit and charm, and for her devotion to the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany here in Opelousas. In her spare time, she volunteered at Opelousas General Hospital. Although born a Yankee, she was an ardent supporter of her sons involvement in the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Special thanks go to Mary Bell Chilo for her assistance in raising the Gremillion children.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Alice Ingraham her husband of 55 years, Donald her brother William and sister Ellen Jane and two sons, Edward Francis and Forest John Gremillion. She is survived by daughter Patti Pease, married to Bruce Trahern of Prescott, Arizona, son George Dudley of Opelousas, sisters Grace and Faith, and her grandchildren Melanie and April of Spring, Texas, and Charlie and Sarah of Prescott, Arizona.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 1:00 pm at LafondArdoin Funeral Home, with a service following at 2:00 pm. Interment will be at Bellevue Cemetery immediately following the service, conducted by Father Pete Smith. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. Alice will be dearly missed and forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. If I leave here tomorrow, will you still remember me
