Agnes Burr Sanchez, born on May 27, 1931, peacefully passed away on August 27, 2023, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home of Opelousas. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of many with her kindness and generosity.
Agnes had a passion for horses and spent much of her life raising them. She especially loved riding silver mounted palominos in numerous parades, adding an elegant touch to the festivities. Aside from her equestrian hobbies, Agnes found joy in creating beautiful baby blankets and doing embroidery work for her family.
Agnes is survived by her son, Maynard Sanchez III, along with her daughters, Robin Lambert and her husband, Albert; and Mary Lalonde and her husband, Byron, all of Opelousas. She adored her six grandchildren: Brenda Mackey and her husband, Troy; Karen Stanford and her husband, Brandon; Megan Courville and her husband, Richard; Charles Blanchard and his wife, Tanya; Albert Lambert Jr. and his wife, Heather; and Michael Lalonde and his wife, Mady; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester Burr and Gladys Butcher Burr; her son, Michael Paul Sanchez; as well as her uncle, Charles O Burr; and aunt, Nita Burr.
Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation service honoring Agnes's life on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. The visitation will be held at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home located at 2845 S. Union St. in Opelousas. The visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and conclude at 2:30 PM.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the Louisiana Memorial United Methodist Church located at 515 E. Bellevue Street in Opelousas. Pastor Raymond Partsch III will officiate the services. Graveside services and burial at Myrtle Grove Cemetery will follow. The funeral service will be a time of remembrance and celebration as we honor Agnes's remarkable journey on this earth.
Agnes Burr Sanchez will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering love for her family, and dedication to those around her. Her legacy will live on through the memories shared by those fortunate enough to have known her.
The pallbearers will be Maynard Sanchez, Byron Lalonde, Albert Lambert Jr., Michael Lalonde, Troy Mackey, and Charles Blanchard. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Moreau and Darwin Reed.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Traditions Hospice and Heritage Manor Nursing Home for the care which was given to Mrs. Agnes.
