Opelousas - Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018, for Ernestine Fontenot Joubert in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. Deacon Dwayne Joubert will officiate the services. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. Peter's Cemetery in Grand Prairie.

Ernestine, age 81 and a resident of Opelousas passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at her home. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Landry Catholic Church. She was the co-owner with her husband of Joubert's Grocery on the Washington Road in Opelousas. She was a cashier at T G & Y and Wal-Mart for many years. She enjoyed working in her flowers and plants. She cherished spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Tina Faul and husband, David of Opelousas; son, Chris Joubert of Tallahassee, Florida; 4 grandchildren: Tyler Faul, Andy Faul, Brody Faul, and Robert Joubert.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leighton Joseph Joubert; parents, Alfred Fontenot and Anna Fontenot; sisters, Maudre Roberie, Audre Fontenot, Excel Bellow, and Ruby Pitre; and two brothers, Ammel Fontenot and Marion Fontenot.

Pallbearers will be David Faul, Tyler Faul, Andy Faul, Brody Faul, Cecil Faul, and Tony Vidrine. James "Tiny" Bellow will be an honorary pallbearer.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 am.
