Funeral services will be held for Louis Soileau at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the Skip Montet Chapel in the LaFond- Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park cemetery.
Mr. Soileau, age 96, who was a native of Grand Prairie, LA, died peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2018.
Louis lived his life filled with family, faith, patriotism and community. He served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Louis worked as the manager of Dimmick Supply for 40 years in Opelousas. Louis loved to hunt, fish, play cards and have suppers at the camp. He enjoyed caring for his yard and his vegetable garden. As a member of the Louisiana Memorial United Methodist Church, Louis served on various committee's and boards as well as thoroughly enjoying the fellowship of the congregation. He was also a member of the American Legion and Young at Heart. In recent years, Mr. Soileau attended Christ Church North in North Lafayette. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, Art Soileau and his wife Dorrie; brother, Kirt Soileau and his wife Jeannie; sister, Lou Santillo; grandsons, Matthew Soileau, Jonathan Soileau and his wife Danielle and great grandchildren, Gavin, Carter, Avery and Scarlett. He is also survived by various nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Soileau; parents, Martin and Leola Soileau; brother, Avie Soileau; sisters, Betty Bellard and Ruth Soileau.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Soileau, Jonathan Soileau, Pat Fontenot, Steve Santillo, Tony Santillo and Art Soileau.
Visiting will be held in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home beginning on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
